Port Melbourne is located 4 km south-west of the CBD the area is bordered by the shores of Hobsons Bay and the lower reaches of the Yarra River Port Melbourne is one of the oldest suburbs in the City of Port Phillip. The Beacon Cove estate and redevelopment of some industrial sites have provided significant numbers of new dwellings in recent years and is largely responsible for the neighbourhood's large growth rate.
